Phil + Mary Claire's Downtown Engagement Session

It has been a long season off of weddings, with COVID-19 bumping most of my couples into 2021. But when Phil told me he was going to propose to Mary Claire and was interested in having me photograph their engagement photos and wedding, I was ready to get back to work!

So, we hopped on a call and talked about what was important in their engagement session and they both seemed very fond of showcasing our city. Something about Richmond people, is we all seem very proud of where we live.

Having so many unique and beautiful spaces in our city, it can make it pretty hard to narrow things down. So I sent over a few different location options, one of which being Shockoe Bottom. The cool thing about the Bottom is that you have a little bit of old city flair, charming cobblestones, and tons of different facades that allow for a lot of creativity.

So we spent about 30 or 40 minutes hopping from street to street. I made them dance and bump into each other and even run across a street [above] to encompass all of the fun and energy that they have as a couple. It felt so good to be behind the camera and capturing 2 peoples story, and I can’t wait to capture them again in the fall!
