Rona + Pauls Foggy Mountain Top Wedding - Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

As much of my 2024 weddings have been this year, the weather forecast called for rain. I know it’s supposed to be “luck” to have rain on your wedding day, but it definitely isn’t really ideal for wedding photos.

We made the 3 hour drive to Harpers Ferry, with fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain all day. Rona and Paul were getting married near the top of a mountain at an Air BNB, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The further up we climbed, the less it rained but the denser the fog got. It was beautiful, but still made me wonder if it would compromise the photos of the day.

I arrived at the house and everyone was beginning to get ready. The house was light and bright and honestly an ideal space to get ready and take photos in. The outside was filled with dense fog, which meant we lost the view from the top of the mountain, but honestly it was still incredibly beautiful. It created a soft, romantic haze that truly made it feel like we were the only people on earth. Everything below us ceased to happen, and everything felt like it revolved around Rona and Paul and their wedding.

Rona and her bridesmaids all got ready in the upstairs loft, while Paul and the groomsmen got ready in a room downstairs. Drizzle had set in a little bit, so once it was time for the first look, we opted for a covered porch at the bottom of the house and overlooking the back garden.

We opted to utilize the front porch for family photos, to keep guests as dry as possible, and then did a combination of indoor and outdoor shots for the bridal party.

The ceremony was set up on the top deck, and while a slight chilliness set in, it made for a super cozy and intimate ceremony. A friend of the couple officiated the wedding and the brides dog, Creamy, was the flower girl. Probably my favorite part of intimate weddings is all of the personal details that can be added in.
