Mary and Eddies Forest Hill Engagement

Forest Hill Engagement Session

This is an extra special post for y’all, since this engagement session is for none other than my sister and future brother in-law!

It hits differently when I get to photograph the people I love. I pour my heart and soul into every session and strive for a personal connection with every couple who brings me along in their wedding story, but nothing is the same as documenting my own family.

Our first stop was at this mural found in the Fan District of Richmond Virginia. Mary found this mural on Instagram and knew she wanted at least a couple of photos in front of it. It was a tight squeeze, as the sidewalk is a little narrower and cars were parked on the street, but we had just enough room to make it happen.

We then hopped over to Forest Hill Park, where I made them jump and dance and cuddle up. The best part of working with family and people I know well, is I get to make them act super silly in public, in order to get some truly joyful and unique photos. Mary and Eddie humored me in just about every request, even if people were watching.

We ended their session with some quiet moments (that consisted of them discussing how frogs float on lily pads), which resulted in my favorite photos of the day. The moment where it feels like I’ve left the room, and people are posed, but at the same time very relaxed and very real. These are the moments that I shoot for (pun intended).
