Favorite Elopement + Microwedding Spaces in and around Richmond
While I have been focusing more on mid-sized weddings the las year or so, intimate weddings are always a favorite of mine. We’re talking 10-45 guests total. There’s just something so special and sweet about being one of few to witness a couple embark on their marriage journey together.
That said, I have compiled a short list of AMAZING Richmond venues that are perfect for an intimate ceremony.
First on the list: Quirk Hotel
The Quirk Hotel is a Richmond Icon. With options ranging from the rooftop, to the Mezza, to the beautiful courtyard, there’s so many opportunities for gorgeous backdrops for your vows.
Speaking of hotels, next on the list is: Linden Row Inn
Where the Quirk Hotel provides a mix of modern design with classic architecture, Linden Row has kept all of the historic charm. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with big windows providing excellent light for your getting ready photos. The courtyard and surrounding yards provide a great backdrop for portraits and it’s just a short walk to some great city spots as well!
And while we are on the subject of historic spaces in Richmond, I have to mention the Virginia House.
If your dream was to get married in a castle, then the Virginia House is a must see for you. While still located within the city, you’ll quickly feel as if you’ve transported into a fairy tale. A ceremony in the upstairs library is a bonus for any booklover, as well.
But Virginia House isn’t the only fairytale worthy venue in Richmond. Next up to consider is : Branch Museum of Architecture and Design
If you want your wedding to feel as though you just transported into “Ever After” (a fantastic 90’s Shakespeare adaptation starring Drew Barrymore, for those who may not get the reference), the Branch Museum may just be the venue for you. With a beautiful ceremony hall, gorgeous dark woodwork and elegant stone, and a courtyard fit for a beautiful mid-summer nights reception, you can’t go wrong here.
And while we are on the subject of elegant stonework and outdoor spaces, that brings me to my last space: Maymont.
If you’re planning an intimate wedding, the Italian Gardens at Maymont really is the perfect sized venue. The pergola gives your guests a scenic space to sit and provides a perfect aisle for you to walk down, while the gardens offer iconic views for your portraits.
