Megan + Johns Graduate Hotel Wedding - Richmond, Virginia

Fall in Virginia is typically rainy, with the ever-looming threat of Hurricanes and Tropical Storms. Despite that, it still makes a dreamy backdrop for autumn weddings. Megan + Johns celebration was no exception.

I don’t think it stopped raining for even a minute that day. We had hoped for a couple of quick dry moments to get up to the rooftop and possibly pop outside for bridal party photos, but the storm refused to let up. Thankfully, with a stormy day, we got perfectly diffused light and hazy backdrops.

One of my favorite parts of Megan + Johns wedding was how Megan designed so many elements of her day. The place settings, the starry theme, she really did an amazing job bridging elements together and curating a beautiful space.

The Graduate Hotel served as a great venue space, since it has so many indoor entertainment options. With guests unable to mingle outdoors or on the rooftop, they were able to play pool and other fun games downstairs.

While we were able to sneak onto the roof and get a couple of quick rooftop shots in the rain, primarily we spent the rest of the time inside. This gave us the chance to get creative and try some different set ups for the couples portraits.
